How did you get your calendar entry to both show a tooltip *and* link to another page?

I wanted to do this, and found your page… thanks for taking over, looks like Luke is way busy now.

  2. jdchumanitiesle 17 septembre 2008 à 19:24 Lier au commentaire

I am having the same problem, could anyone explain this to me?

  3. Heiremle 17 septembre 2008 à 19:49 Lier au commentaire

Sorry Gina to have no responded sooner. But I still had not seen your message. I discover it with the jdchumanities’s one.

I do not understand the problem. View tootip and propose an internal - or external - link, from an event, are two different codes that operates separately. And it works very well on your site also, I just check. A browser problem perhaps? I checked with IE and it works. So what? Or what else?

This led me to wonder, where an event refers to an post AND an external link, if it would be a good idea to open two pages, one for each.
    What do you think?

  4. jdchumanitiesle 17 septembre 2008 à 20:10 Lier au commentaire

I guess I really just need to know how to link an event that appears on the calendar to either a post or an external url. I don’t know why, but I can’t figure out how this works. I would also be great if I could add attachments, but I could probably just put the attachments in the realted posts. Any thoughts? As to your question: It might be nice to have two pages open, but it would be nice to have a choice. I hate to have two pages open at once, it reminds me of pop-ups!

  5. Heiremle 17 septembre 2008 à 20:34 Lier au commentaire

    jdchumanities,
I still do not understand your problem.
For associate an event to an external link, fill the field ‘Link out’ which is there for that, in creating an event.
To join this event to a post simply:
    - Check, in creation , the checkbox “Create a post”
    - Enter, in update, in the field “Post ID ‘, the post id.

Perhaps I should add, to this field, a drop-down list of posts available?
It’s an idea. But there are so many to do yet …

  6. jdchumanitiesle 17 septembre 2008 à 20:40 Lier au commentaire

Maybe I have an outdated version of Events Calendar? I will download again. Thanks for your quick responses, they are much appreciated. I don’t think that’s a bad idea, but, as you said, there are other things to do first. Thanks again!

  7. Welsh Dogle 23 septembre 2008 à 12:03 Lier au commentaire

I installed the plugin and entered a couple of dates as a ‘test’, then added the widget.

All I see is ‘widget text’ saying “Events are coming soon. Stay tuned.”

What do I do to make it visible?

  8. Deele 23 septembre 2008 à 22:02 Lier au commentaire

I wonder if you could tell me how to change my week from starting with Monday to start on Sunday. I’ve been looking for hours. I don;t know why the heck I can’t figure it out.

  9. Heiremle 23 septembre 2008 à 22:43 Lier au commentaire

    Hello Welsh Dog,
I visited your site and, indeed, it’s a strange issue! Since you’ve taken care to create at least one event. This message ‘Events are coming soon, stay tuned! ” only appears when there is not yet established event. Or .. that the setting in the display is 0 event! I dare believe that this simply isnt it? ;)

    Questions:
How is implemented the list of events in your sidebar? Widget or hard in the code of your ‘l_sidebar.php “?

In both cases you must specify the number of events listed in the sidebar. So check to start ;)

Otherwise we will have to dig deeper. Or install and test the version 6.5.2 beta 4 ;)

  10. Heiremle 23 septembre 2008 à 22:49 Lier au commentaire

    Dear Dee,
Some CSS issues with the widget calendar ? ;)
    For hours really ?!
The first day in the week is a Wordpress setting !
In your dashboard, ckick on the ‘Settings’ link.
At the bottom, you will find a field called: Week Starts On

Just fit it like you want ;)

  11. Deele 23 septembre 2008 à 23:49 Lier au commentaire

OMGosh. That’s a big UH on my part. I was looking in the wrong direction. No wonder I couldn’t find it. Thank you so much.

Oh, and, Yeah I’m also having issues with the default widget colors. I’ll figure it out, eventually. :)

  12. Welsh Dogle 24 septembre 2008 à 4:55 Lier au commentaire

Thanks Heirem. To add the widget to the sidebar, all I did was select it from the list of those available and ’saved’ :)

As you suggested I uploaded the new beta, deactivated and re-activated the plugin… and no change!

I’ve very little coding expertise… but if you could tell me where to look and what to write I’m happy to have a dig around in the software! :)

I am noticing that when adding a date (for example, Thanksgiving in the US is on 11/27 Thursday, that the date is off by one day and is showing 11/26 instead.

Sorry — here is a link to a sample of the issue:

  15. Heiremle 29 septembre 2008 à 17:33 Lier au commentaire

Dear Welsh Dog, I noticed that you’ve finally installed the widget calendar in your sidebar to replace the list of events. I really wonder why this list is empty of events in your case and not the widget calendar.
The place where you should be looking into the code is the function ‘displayEventList’ in ‘ec_calendar.class.php.
    Good luck.

Dear Jamie, As I said, I’ll watch this issue closely. I can not respond immediately because it concerns a jQuery plugin (datepicker) that is very special. But I wish you aware as soon as possible.

  16. The Ghostle 2 octobre 2008 à 11:46 Lier au commentaire

Exactly HOW did you get the text to appear above the large calendar? Your cryptic “But we must still pay attention to XHTML tags ” doesn’t help.

I’m using 6.5.2 and the text placed above it in the editor still appears below it on the page.

  17. Heiremle 3 octobre 2008 à 2:21 Lier au commentaire

Hello The Ghost, You have simply not yet used my last version of the plugin. I am sure because I went to see the sources of your page ‘Events Calendar’ ;)

When I spoke to pay attention to XHTML tag means that the editor in Wordpress has the unfortunate habit to change or add certain tags when saving an post or a page. Some times, during my tests, I had bad surprises. And when one ‘< ’ is set just before displaying the large calendar then it makes a bad result. To correct this you need to think about going to see the HTML source of the post ;)

  18. Tomle 3 octobre 2008 à 20:54 Lier au commentaire

    Hi.
Sorry if this is an issue you have solved on here before, but I cannot find a forum or anything like that.

When I add [[EventsCalendarLarge]] to a page, it previews fine but when I go to save it, I get the error:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/mydatabase/public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/ec_calendar.class.php:158) in /home/stmarysg/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 770

    Any ideas?

Hello Tom, I myself have already met this issue. Events Calendar is not in question. You should look your Wordpress theme.

Why do the squares format to different sizes when you add an event? Is there a fix for this?

  28. Rayanle 1 janvier 2009 à 23:41 Lier au commentaire

When I add your widget to my site all of the sidebar titles align to the left. If your plugin is not included all of my sidebar titles stay centered just the way I like them to be.

How do I fix this? I want to use your widget but it makes all of my sidebar titles align left, which I don’t like.

    Thanks,

    Hi

I am having troubles displaying a large calendar on the events page on my site. A large version of the calendar is coming up before my actual wordpress page is displayed with the large calendar being displayed again in the content section.

    Please help!

  31. Bobole 31 janvier 2009 à 2:12 Lier au commentaire

Is there going to be a 2.7 compatible version soon? Also, one feature that would be really nice would be for there to be a drop-down list that allows people to select a future month and see what events are on it rather than having to scroll through the months one by one (In the large, or post, view)

    Hi:

I love the calendar, but I am trying to make a page that has a large calendar on it.

According to the description on wordpress.org, all I need to do is have a page with:

    [[EventsCalendarLarge]]

    in it.

however, when I do this, (I tried in both the HTML and visual editor) all I get is a page that displays that line as text, and no calendar.

I have events, the plugin is activated…what could I be doing wrong?

    Thank you!

Hello Brandon, and Hello Rayan too ;)
I see that you have solved this problem nicely. Indeed it is very difficult to propose display solutions in a plugin. Because it is impossible to adapt it to all themes. The only solution is to perform work on the CSS rules. What you do ;)

    example: i add 2 events,

1 event is at 15.1.2009, and second is at 17.1.2009 in month how to color just 1 event,

i have to categories of events in one calender- bmw, and audi - so i need to style “audi events” boxes

    Hi!
It took me a while to figure out why the ajax month navigation is not worked on my site.
Finally it was because of my custom permalink structure and apache rewrite rule supporting this structure.

I solved this by replacing the ajax method from GET to POST (replacing $_GET by $_POST in events-calendar.php and jq.get() by jq.post() in ec_js.class.php)

Heirem, what you think about this solution?

I think this also can be done by modifying .htaccess

    Hope this will help someone!

    Hello Sergey,
    This is great information!
Indeed in some cases it is necessary to change the method of sending informations between pages.
Can you bring me more informations about what yuou done exactely, with your parameters, so that I’m testing on my side?
You could even write an article that I would be happy to publish in my blog. What do you think?

I’ve made a page for the large events calendar. It appears but events do not. All events are set to Public yet they still do not appear on the Large Events Calendar. They are appearing in the Wordpress Backend on the Large Calendar there. Any ideas why they do not appear on the frontend?

Nevermind. I figured out what was wrong. I had the jQuery protection option checked and as soon as I removed it the Calendar worked.

For some reason the calendar is not posting the events correctly and I can’t view them via the posting link (I can only see them when I’m logged in). Everything is public..and I’ve been working on this all day and I can’t figure out how to make it work.

    Hello Ed Nailor,
I have already responded to this request several times. Just remove the lines that contain Javascript instuction “tooltip”. In the next version you will have an option.

Dear Matteo, I invite you to read the comments of my last post ;)

  51. Christinele 14 mai 2009 à 9:14 Lier au commentaire

Figured out that it was because the events being posted were being automatically put into being “scheduled” rather than being “published.” Where can I find the code that sets this??

  52. Heiremle 14 mai 2009 à 14:26 Lier au commentaire

    Hello Christine,
I admit that I do not quite understand your problem.
When you create an event you can set its access level.
Maybe you should check that ;)

  53. Christinele 14 mai 2009 à 20:05 Lier au commentaire

Sorry about that. I was displaying the events in a list and the link back to the blog post wouldn’t work immediately. It was because the page didn’t exist yet because the events weren’t being published immediately even though I did choose “publish” (they were being scheduled to publish in 3 hours). I had to change some code in ec_management.class.php but I finally got it to publish immediately. You had this line , ‘post_date’ => date(’Y-m-d H:i:s’) and I changed it to , ‘post_date’ => current_time(’mysql’), then I added $statusPost = $_POST['EC_statusPost']; after line 54.

    Welsh dog:

The problem you’re having with “Events are coming soon. Stay tuned”, is a bug in the events calendar widget when used with the latest wordpress versions.

The problem is in EventsCalendarINIT(), around Line 81, 89, and 95 (in events-calendar.php):

    delete these lines

    $inadmin = strstr($svr_uri, ‘wp-admin’);
    if ((!$inadmin) OR (($inadmin) && ((strstr($svr_uri, ‘widget’))))) {
