Where do we stand with jQuery conflicts?
IntroductionAllow me to publish this article in a response to a very nice friend, for me at the World’s End, Juanjo is his name, and who submitted me a problem with the latest version 6.5.1 of Events Calendar. As my answer is a little long and concern also many of you, I thought that a post would be preferable. |
My dear friend Juanjo,
I spent a large part of the last night on your issue. Fortunately there are users like you who face this kind of worry! And that kindness and trust to give me access to their web space. For, without you know, you made me discover why many sites with the plugin Events Calendar suffered conflicts jQuery, my code could not solve.
I have consulted throughout the jQuery documentation and visited many sites and forums. But I think I finally succeeded and it will probably give beautiful fruits.
As you have noticed thyself your page, containing the large calendar, is now working properly. But the change I made was not accepted on my other test sites. It was thus that I find a solution that works anywhere where I could test it. And I think I have just a moment to find it! It all makes me happy! lol
So I will implement it on your site tonight to get confirmation. This will allow us to propose a version of the plugin finally really stable for a majority of persons. And also if I can help me make up my schedule.
The difficulty still concerned conflicts between JavaScript, jQuery and other plugins. Moreover, since the last two versions of Wordpress, jQuery library has evolved. In obviously but we must now adapt Events Calendar its small changes and take advantage of certain improvements.
I did not understand why some methods of protection conflicts worked on some sites with some plugins and not on others. The art of the thing is the use of the famous instruction “jQuery.noConflict ()”. For those who are interested in the problem and want to have a tell of this experience, you just need to tell it, let me ask.
At the same time, during my tests I found a small tip algorithms that will greatly improve the speed display calendars when you change the month.
Added to this, I’ll add in this next version a significant correction, about the creation of the table, dedicated to plugin, which was not for some in their database.
So have a little patience and soon, normally - pray for me - and I could offer a new version much more stable. One version, which I hope will allow a more functional plugin. And I can breathe a little too.
My best regards,
Heirem

I am having some trouble with the event calendar and my database. The posts that I create along with the event show up in my posts table. However, my events will not appear in my eventcalendar table nor on my admin calendar. Last week I was able to add events and the calendar worked perfectly. I have updated to the newest Wordpress and Event Calendar. Please help : ) Thanks.
First of all, thank you very much on your effort to give us this wonderful plugin.
I’ve been doing all in my hands to help and I will remain supporting this as much as i can.
And above all, thanks for helping me inside my website. Now I see this research will give us a most useful, powerful and robust plugin.
Now let’s just wait the release of a new version.
As you said, plugin in Big Calendar view is working great.
Still not yet in widget views on sidebars, but I guess you are working on it.
Madda: I think you were having the same problem as I had. Just wait a little bit, I’m sure Heirem is working hard to give it to us a new build.
Many thanks again.
Juanjo > Thank you for your supports it makes me warm at heart.
I have yet to intervene on your site tonight. I am sending you a private message to explain why.
Maddy > I send you the version 6.5.2 which is still in beta test so that you try. I mail a collective message to this proposal. Tell me then as soon as possible the results
Heirem,
Thanks for the quick response. The newest version no longer gives me a jQuery error. Unfortunately, I am still having problems posting events. They do not appear in my database. If I check the ‘create post for event’ box, then a post is created and it appears within my posts table in my database. Any suggestions? Thanks again for all your help.
Maddy : )
Maddy > Are you sûre you have desactivate and re activate the plugin before install the new version ? As allways in this case
Hello to everyone,
To all who are waiting the latest version of Events-Calendar.
I am still testing it on all my test sites.
Because I went much beyond what I announced in this post.
For example, in the post that contains the sample Large Calendar, you may notice that I finally managed to make it possible to write before it’s display
I almost finished, a little patience again, thank you.
Heirem
It’s still not working on my website, could you take a look for a while. I put it on my left sidebar. and it makes my image slideshow not working.
here is the URL http://www.pinatih.com
Any suggestion ???
Thanks
Dear Dewi, could you be more specific? Because I do not see anything that does not work on your site.
First of all, congratulations for the plugin: it is excellent, just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it conflicts with another plugin, Featured Content Gallery, I have activate on my site.
Have you a solution? I really want to use your plugin, I think it’s the best in its genre.
Thank you for your answer
gabriele
bonjour, merci pour cxe billet intéressant (comme souvent !) heureusement que tu as précis : and who submitted me a problem with the latest version 6
on aurait eu du mal à saisir l’esssentiel
Heirem,
I also have this issue when using any of the featured content plugins…. i was able to use another calendar program, but like yours better. Is there a fix for this in the near future? I don’t know if it is a confilct with mootools? or just another jquery issue? maybe jQuery(’#mycarousel’).jcarousel? I notice that Gabriele and Dewi have this issue too. Dewi switch to the other similar calendar I was referring to.
If I check this option so it changes it to true - jQuery Extrem Protection (checked = yes) then the featured content plugin works and displays on my home page, but the calendar functions don’t - no fwd month, backward month, mouse overs, etc…
Thanks,
Kevin
I’m having two probs.
First it says, JQuery is null or not an object. Second, Object doesn’t support this property or method.
Hmm… am I missing out something here?
Thanks for the great plugin btw
First of all, thanks for your time developing this plugin.
There are conflicts I encountered installing this latest version and even the previous ones.
First (although it was already mentioned above), all JQuery scripts, whether custom made or included by a specific plugin like Thickbox, do not work accordingly. Example, if I put the events calendar in a page where there is a sidebar that has random thumbnails on it. When you click on the thumbnail to view the larger image via Thickbox, it doesn’t work. But if you go to other page, it works fine.
Second, the AJAX for multiple widgets in admin page doesn’t work. I tried to install the older version (6.5.2.1) and now every thing works fine.
I hope this helps to improve your plugin. I really love using this and keep up the good works… GOD bless!
